Primitive,folk art, carved, articulated doll.

About 13 inches tall and very old with a strong patina.  Seems that the left leg was replaced long ago.  Not sure if the doll is supposed to represent a black doll given the darkened head.  Interestingly, the seller said that this doll had been in his family for many years and that his ancestors were founders of the Milton House in Milton WI, a stop on the underground railroad.
