Folk art carved limberjack

Hand made antique jointed limberjack figure.  He is just under 10" tall with nail head eyes and unusually large feet.  Nice patina and wear around joints to indicate usage.

Folk art carved articulated figure / jig doll

Nicely complete articulated figure that is 12 inches tall.  Unique form with wooden pegs connecting the joints and hollowed out sides to accommodate the arms.  Has a metal bracket on the top of the head which presumably was to hang the figure to make it dance.

Folk art carved limberjack / jig doll

A big one, tall and lanky - 13 inches tall.  Though he's lost his hands somewhere along the way, he has a very well carved, expressive face.

Primitive, carved limberjack / jig doll.

Great patina and completeness.  7 3/4 tall.

Folk art, carved, articulated limberjack.

9.5 inches tall with an unusual body and face.  The Anonymous Works' site that lists parts of the collection for sale has a 19th Century picture of a carver that has the same style of carvings as this little guy - definitely the same carver of this limberjack.

Folk art, carved jigger / limberjack

In overall good, complete condition. Hard to know how to date this little guy, but he has a nice solid colour and he moves easily. 9 inches tall.

Folk art, carved limberjack / jigger

A carved limberjack / jigger purchased from a RubyLane seller after I found it through a general search. Seller said that it originated from Quebec, Canada. Seems to have considerable age. Just under 9 inches tall.

Carved, painted limberjack / jigger

Still with its dancing pole attached. Nice weathered surface with paint touches on the mouth and eyes and a very primitive carved face. 9 inches tall.

Folk art, carved limberjack / jigger

Drawn on / painted on face and hair with nail eyes. These sometimes are given different names: Dancing Dan, Jumping Jack/Jill, jig doll, etc. but this one has "Happy Susan" written on the back in pencil. This is the only one I own with this kind of metal joining. Hard to date, but maybe 20's or 30's based on the face? 10 1/2 inches tall.
