Folk art carved articulated doll/limberjack

12.5 inches tall with an incredibly distinctive and over-sized face/head.  The nose is made out of the natural contours of the wood where a knot or branch existed.  I'm assuming that it was meant to be danced given the hole in the top of the head and back, but it has an awkward upper body form that would prevent the arms from freely moving.  Great patina and overall completeness.  The over-sized head and hands remind me a bit of Appalachian poppet dolls from the early 20th C.

Folk art home made toy gun/pistol

Made to be played with maybe a 100 years ago give or take.  8 inches long and 5 inches high.  Love the tacked on pistol grips.  Has remnants of old paint and a great overall patina.  Seems to be made out of pine.

Circa 1870 hand drawn / colored manuscript map of Canada by Palmer Rivett

Paper size is 10.5 by 8.5 inches and the map area is 4.5 by 6.6 inches.  Great detail and nicely signed in calligraphy by the maker, Palmer Rivett.    Drawn just three years after Canada's confederation as a country in 1867.  Also, I have another manuscript map of Africa by Palmer Rivett dated 1870.

Late 19th C / Early 20th C hand painted watercolor folk art pen wipe

In the days when people used nib pens and dipped them in inkwells, there was a need to wipe the excess ink off the pen from time to time to ensure things stayed tidy and neat.  This looks like a home made gift that has a fun play on words title, " Excuse haste and a poor pen" that relates to its purpose - though never used.  Total of three pages with a piece of blotting paper in the middle and a back piece - tied together with a red ribbon.  8 inches long and 4 inches wide.

Old, folk art carved salamander fishing decoy

My most recent purchase that was sold/misidentified as a turtle decoy.  Used for ice fishing/spear fishing.  It is just under 10 inches long and has a fantastic patina, tack eyes and mellowed paint.  I'm by no means an expert in this field, but this appears to be a relatively unusual piece based on age and form - not a lot of comparable examples.  Plus, what a happy little face!
